2023 Jeep Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator gives drivers the capability they want from a Wrangler with the utility of a pickup truck. This truck has a removable top and doors for an open-air driving experience and adds towing and hauling capacity. For the 2023 model year, the Gladiator has a new Freedom package and a new Capability package available. Also, for 2023, the Willy's models gain some extra standard features. Here's a look at some of the details for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator.
Trim Levels
The entry-level Sport has 17-inch steel wheels, 32-inch all-season tires, fog lights, and manual-adjustable side mirrors. Stepping up to the Overland adds 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, and power-adjustable side mirrors. The Rubicon is more off-road capable with 17-inch wheels, 33-inch all-terrain tires, increased fender clearance, Fox shocks, and an electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar. Choosing the Mojave gets you a reinforced frame, Fox internal bypass shocks, and a 1-inch lift.
The Gladiator is also available with several packages to add features to these base trims. You can choose from the Willy's, Freedom, Sport S, Willy's Sport, and the High Altitude.
Engine
Jeep offers the Gladiator with two different engines. The base is a 3.6-liter V-6 that churns out 285 horsepower, and the other is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel that puts out 260 horsepower and generates 442 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The V-6 comes standard with a manual transmission and offers an automatic as an option. With the automatic, this truck will get up to 60 mph in just 7.2 seconds. The pickup truck-based Gladiator has better road manners than the Wrangler and is just as capable of tackling off-road terrain. The Rubicon has special features such as Tru-Lok that allows both axles to look, which ensures that all four wheels get power. When equipped, it can even tow up to 7,650 pounds.
Interior
The base Sport trim has a washable interior and a waterproof push-button start. The Overland adds more comfort features, including dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Depending on the trim and package, you can also get a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Technology in the Gladiator starts with a 7-inch touch screen, one USB port, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-speaker stereo. An 8.4-inch touchscreen comes in the Overland, which also has navigation, a nine-speaker stereo, and rear USB ports. Jeep offers the unique Off-Road Pages feature with the infotainment system. This has several pages that show information about the drivetrain, current altitude, and transmission temperature that can come in handy when off-roading.
Safety Features
The entry-level Gladiator Sport comes with a rear backup camera, electronic roll mitigation, and electronic traction and stability control. The Active Safety Group is optional for some trims, adding a blind-spot monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert. Additional safety features that Jeep makes available include adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, and automatic braking. A front-facing camera is also available to help navigate over rocky terrain.
