Time for New Tires? Visit Your Chrysler Dealership Today

As your tires are the only car part in direct contact with the road, it's essential to keep them in optimal condition. To reduce your risk of blowouts or skids, keep an eye out for the following tire-related issues. You can have safe, sturdy, reliable new tires installed right away at your closest Chrysler dealership. more Unusual Bulges When a tire becomes damaged by a pothole or curb, the internal layers of rubber can sometimes loosen or rupture. This may result in a strange bulge on the outside of the tire, which means the tire is no longer safe to use. Too Many Cracks Tire walls tend to develop cracks as the rubber ages and dries out. In the worst case, dry rot will set in, which means rapidly spreading cracks while the rubber becomes brittle. Excessive cracks in the sidewalls can threaten the strength of the tire and make it unsafe. Long or Deep Cuts Any significant damage to a tire means it has to go. If you notice a cut or gash that looks particularly long or deep, it's best not to drive on that tire because the cut might turn into a sudden puncture. Embedded Objects Tires can sometimes pick up nails, screws, metal fragments, pieces of glass, and other sharp objects from the road. If you find an embedded object, have it removed to make sure that the tire isn't deeply punctured. Persistent Air Loss Hidden punctures can sometimes cause a slow, almost imperceptible loss of air. Even if you can't find the puncture causing gradual air loss, it's safest to stop using a tire that can no longer maintain suitable pressure. Diminished Tread Depths The tread depths of a tire determine how well it grips the road. When tread depths wear down to 2/32 of an inch or below, it's usually time for a new set of tires. This minimal tread depth should be kept deeper during winter. Poor Traction on Water Driving over puddles and wet patches of the road is a litmus test for the quality of a tire's traction. If you sense any slight loss of traction after it's been raining and the roads are wet, you may need a new set of tires. Excessive Vibrations When tires become damaged or excessively uneven, you're likely to feel a great deal more vibrations from the road. This may also negatively impact the quality of your vehicle's handling and overall performance. Ask a technician to take a look and diagnose the source of excessive road vibrations. Have your tires rotated or replaced today at Bob Ruwart Motors. We provide an impressively broad selection of new and used vehicles along with competitive deals and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff and technicians.

How Often Should Your CDJR Vehicle Get an Oil Change?

Oil absorbs the heat produced by the friction of moving parts and keeps your engine healthy. Essentially, it acts as the lifeblood of your car, so it's important to ensure that it stays clean and works effectively. Read on to find out when it's time to contact your Chrysler dealer for an oil change. more Checking Your Mileage When it comes to oil, the needs of different vehicles may vary according to age. Make sure that you check your owner's manual for their specific recommendations for oil according to the make and model, especially if your car is older. This is important, as it could affect your warranty. The standard recommended interval for new oil used to be every 3,000 miles or three months. However, synthetic oil lasts longer and needs fewer changes. As a rule of thumb, it's a good idea to include it as part of your regular maintenance check every 5,000 miles, or six months. However, it should definitely be completed every 10,000 miles, or once a year. Checking Your Oil Over time, oil becomes contaminated with dirt and carbon from the engine and stops working well. It's recommended that you check it once a month, as well as before any long journey. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, then replace and remove it again. This will show you the level of the oil, but also its condition. Ideally it should be amber and translucent. Black or dark brown oil is dirty and less effective, and will need changing to protect your car's health. Type of Oil Oil now comes in three types: Traditional or conventional motor oil is refined crude oil A synthetic blend is conventional motor oil mixed with synthetic-based oil Synthetic oil has been developed with a unique blend of additives to meet the needs of your engine. Synthetic oil needs changing less often. It has been specially formulated to reduce wear and tear and to protect your engine from extreme temperatures, so it's the best fit for most cars. The Importance of Oil When the oil isn't changed, it gradually becomes sludgier and stops removing the heat from the engine as effectively. This can lead to overheating and sticking piston rings, and shortens your engine's life. The worst-case scenario occurs when the engine seizes up completely and becomes scrap metal. Scheduling timely maintenance is definitely worth the effort. A change of oil is a simple procedure, but as with all maintenance, you want to know that your car is in the very best hands. Contact us at Bob Ruwart Motors and schedule an appointment for the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your vehicle is receiving the highest standard of care.
