The Dodge Grand Caravan is not only the original minivan; it remains a contender in the market today. The 2020 model has a few changes, including adding second-row captain’s chairs as a standard feature in the mid-level SE Plus trim, which also now comes with red accent stitching and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Dodge also added a new Blacktop Appearance Package as an option for the SE Plus and the SXT. Along with these changes, the Grand Caravan has lots of family-friendly features, and here’s why it’s ideal for any family.

The Cabin Space

The 2020 Grand Caravan offers seating for up to seven, and everyone has a spacious place to sit. The second-row captain’s chairs have plenty of cushioning, and the third row has enough legroom to accommodate adults. Parents of young children will appreciate the three full sets of LATCH connectors with two in the second row and one in the middle seat in the third row.

When you need more storage space than seating, the second and third rows feature Dodge’s signature Stow ‘n Go seats. These fold down into the floor to create a flat open cargo area. With all the seats up, you get 31.1 cubic feet of space in the back, and this can open up to 78.9 cubic feet with the third row folded down, and an impressive 140.3 cubic feet if you fold down both back rows.

The Comfort Features

The 2020 Grand Caravan comes standard with triple-zone manual climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and rear air conditioning. The SE Plus adds an upscale leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote engine start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and upgraded upholstery. Heated front seats are an option for the SXT, and this trim also offers an overhead storage bin, second-row sunshades, and ambient cabin lighting. The available Driver Convenience Package for the SXT adds a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and triple-zone automatic climate control.

The Technology

Both adults and kids will love the tech features in the Grand Caravan. The base SE comes with a 6.5-inch touch-screen display and offers the option for the Uconnect Hands-Free Group Package. This package adds satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. An entertainment system for the rear seat passengers is an available option for any model. It adds a 9-inch roof-mounted screen, a 115-volt power outlet, a DVD player, two wireless headphones, and a charge-only USB port.

The Power

All the Grand Caravan models get power from a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that develops an impressive 283 horsepower. This powertrain is one of the most powerful engines you’ll find under the hood of a minivan. A six-speed automatic transmission helps the engine accelerate smoothly up to cruising speed. When equipped, the Grand Caravan can tow up to 3,600 pounds, which is plenty for the family’s small camper or a fishing boat.

The 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan has the power and features both inside and out to make it ideal for families. It is also budget-friendly and offers upgrades for more equipment.
