Summer is in full swing, which means the weather is perfect for some much-needed outdoor fun for kids. There are various attractions in Wheatland, WY, where you can take the family for a day of fun and unforgettable memories. So take the car and check out these kid friendly activities near the town.

1. Explore History at the Laramie Peak Museum

Wheatland has a rich history that is commemorated at the Laramie Peak Museum, located at 1601 16th St. Step into the past as you and your little ones explore the exhibits and artifacts that showcase the region’s rich heritage. Learn about the native tribes that inhabited Platte County before the arrival of European settlers.

The museum also features a replica classroom with authentic learning materials from the town’s first schoolhouse. Here, kids will get to experience what early school life was like. They can explore the collection of antique vehicles, furniture, toys, and tools from the past.

2. Play Outdoor Games at Lewis Park

Lewis Park, located at 306 8th Street, is the place to go if you are looking for some fresh air and greenery. The park has various activity areas for playing basketball, Frisbee golf, soccer, and tennis. There is also a playground, a skateboard park, various picnic areas, and plenty of open space for relaxing and running around.

Take advantage of the spacious bed in your 2023 RAM 1500 and pack your kids’ toys, balls, skateboards, and other play accessories to get the most fun out of the trip. Don’t forget to pack a picnic basket and bring a lot of snacks too. Dogs are allowed here, so your furry friends can join in on the family fun.

3. Go Swimming at Wheatland Town Pool

Head over to Wheatland Town Pool and let the kids cool off from the summer heat. Located at 93 Recreation Dr, the Wheatland Town Pool features three water slides, two diving boards, a large kiddie pool, a lap pool, and a small water play area.

The pool is clean and sanitary, and the lifeguards are good and attentive. If your kids aren’t worn out from diving and splashing in the water, they can burn off the extra energy on the playground at the facility.

4. Watch a Movie at the Cinema West Theater

Sometimes, a little cinematic magic is what the family needs for a delightful time. Cinema West Theater, located at 609 10th St, is an old but charming movie theater that shows a new family movie every week. There are beautiful murals on the walls that take you back in time and add to the charm of the place. The concessions are affordable, and the staff is amazing.

Head over to these locations and enjoy a great time with the kids. If you are in the market for a new family car, stop by Bob Ruwart Motors CDJR and check out our inventory of new vehicles.
